I sent these demands, namely to bind them, in spite of your acceptance of their regular form of contract jointly with us, to a contract of 3 to 5 years. Moreover, I granted London 1/2 % more than what you accepted, well as I might have withdrawn this offer because London, in spite of it, refused to accept and came forward with new demands ¦
Well, the Texas Company do indeed resent these and are Ereatly dissatisfied that this simple matter is not settled even now, and they will most decidedly not assent to any other contract but the Joint Agency Agreement proposed to you by them and my Company.

to return the business to the Germans after the war; and I was glad,
indeed, to be able to put forward to the Texas Company at least some ex- planation of London's strange demands.
